A video generated by artificial intelligence (AI) of President Donald Trump, in which he appears to suggest using dinosaurs to guard the US-Mexico border, quickly gained traction online.
The video, posted on X on June 2, shows a fake version of President Trump speaking from the Oval Office. By June 4, it had reached around 1.3 million views and more than 20,000 likes.
In the video, the AI-generated President Trump praises a biotech company called Colossal Labs for bringing back the dire wolf. He then said, “Velociraptor mounted Border Patrol agents. They’ll rip your head clear off. Pterodactyls patrolling the skies, velociraptors on the ground”.

Although the video ends with a note stating it is a deepfake, the realistic look and sound led some people to question if it was real. Many turned to Grok, X’s built-in AI chatbot, which responded by saying the clip was “almost certainly AI-generated”.
Grok also pointed out that there are no official records or news reports of Trump making such a statement. Instead, it noted that President Trump’s real immigration policies have focused on physical barriers and enforcement, not dinosaurs.
The person behind the video, Maverick Alexander, hosts a podcast called DarbyCast. He later confirmed he made the clip and posted a follow-up saying:
Many people are trying to make Trump deepfakes now, but I haven’t seen any land the plane on his voice and word choice. As a result thereof, I should probably keep making these, no?
