Figma revealed in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to go public that it holds nearly $70 million worth of shares in Bitcoin ETFs (exchange-traded funds), and that it has set $30 million aside to buy BTC.
The design software company seeks to go public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol “FIG.” In the July 1 regulatory filing with the SEC, the firm disclosed that it invested $55 million into the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) on March 3, 2024.
The value of that investment has since soared to $69.5 million as of the quarter ended on March 31 with an unrealized gain of 26%, according to the filing.
Figma Holds $30 Million In USDC, Intends To Buy BTC
Figma also signaled its intention to buy BTC directly. In the filing, the company said it holds $30 million in USD Coin (USDC) on its balance sheets.
“On May 8, 2025, the Board of Directors approved an investment of $30.0 million in Bitcoin,” Figma wrote in the filing. “Subsequently, the Company purchased 30.0 million USD Coin (USDC), a stablecoin, for $1 per USDC totaling $30.0 million,” it added.
Figma then said it “intends to re-invest its stablecoin holdings into Bitcoin at a later date.”
Companies Up Their Crypto Exposure
Figma is not the only company with exposure to crypto, specifically Bitcoin. Data from BitcoinTreasuries shows 254 companies currently hold around 3.48 million BTC collectively on their balance sheets.
While applauding Figma for allocating around 5% of its balance sheet to Bitcoin, Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsely predicted on X, “More and more corporations are going to own Bitcoin as part of their treasury.”
